Yay! For once, the news on the tellie doesn’t make me growl. Tons of hopeful articles about efforts to repair our planet.

Saw bi-partisan efforts to raise awareness!

Life is looking very upbeat today.

Easy idea for your children to participate in going GREEN:

Worm farms

You can create a home for earthworms to digest waste and produce lovely new soil in a very small container that fits on your back porch or in your garage. Little boys, in particular, will love playing with worms and little girls who think worms are icky never have to actually touch the worms. (I’m one of those little girls, btw)

I’ll get Corey, in his copious amounts of spare time, to post instructions and links to accomplish an urban hobby worm farm. It’s one of the topics he loves talking about and one of the first things he wants to re-establish in our new homestead.

Anyway…go hug a tree…it feels great.

Or find a quiet place and lie flat against the earth and just listen to her heartbeat.

City folk…try not to get mugged.

P.S. Here’s several links to various sites for those interested in vermicompost (also called worm compost, vermicast, worm castings, worm humus or worm manure) is the end-product of the breakdown of organic matter by some species of earthworm. Vermicompost is a nutrient-rich, natural fertilizer and soil conditioner. The process of producing vermicompost is called vermicomposting.

This site has a ton of info about worm farming.
As does this one.
and this one.

There are several companies that sell a variety of products from prebuilt worm farms, to castings and even the worms themselves.
Acme Worm Farm
Worm Man’s Worm Farm
Happy D Ranch

or if you just want to buy the castings, (worm poop, some of the best fertilizer around.)
Vierra’s Worm Farm
The Worm Farm Durham
WormsWrangler Red Wiggler Worm Farm

There are many more sources of materials, worms, bins, and information out there, this is just a small sample.
